What if my child’s iPad is damaged?

  • Any damage to an iPad must be reported to the Head of Middle School immediately.
  • Any breakages that occur to the iPad will attract a repair fee of 100 dollars.
  • If the damage is deemed to be the responsibility of someone else the fee will be payable by them along with any disciplinary consequences as determined by the College.
  • The usual turnaround for iPad repair is 4 days depending on the extent of the damage.
  • The iPad cannot be released until the receipt for the 100 dollars is presented at the IT department to verify payment.

The cases the iPads come in are designed to withstand some impacts but they are not infallible. That is why great care must be taken when transporting and using the iPads.

What if the IPAD is stolen?

Screen Shot 2013-08-02 at 10.10.20 AMIt is the responsibility of every student to take good care of his or her equipment. By ensuring that the iPad is either secured, on the student’s person and not being left around it will decrease the chances of theft.

However, if an iPad is stolen one of its great strengths of the iPad is that it is easily traceable, as long as the machine is operational and it is connected to any internet source.

As soon as the student realizes his/her iPad is missing it must be reported to the Head of Middle School. The comprehensive coverage of security cameras around the campus will also ensure that, in all likelihood, thieves will be identified.

While many measures are in place during school hours to prevent theft there is also a way that students can protect themselves outside of school. By turning on the features of iCloud on the iPad you then have the capabilities of being able to discover the whereabouts of the iPad or even remotely disable the device. iCloud can be accessed both on a Mac computer or a PC. All students will be demonstrated how to do this within a short term of being issued their iPad or you can do this yourself by following the instructions found here.
